LG HR400 Blu-Ray disc drive
In a few weeks we tested Engadget Blu-Ray LG HR400. And for once, I advocate the end of the physical format, I raised the purchase of a team like this.
Because if the first Blu-ray equipment were not only expensive, lonely and brothers computers DVD players, the latest models with Internet connectivity and playback of files from a USB stick planted in the market as an alternative transition very recommended. If we add that HR400 LG also has a 160 GB hard drive and Freeview tuner, and you can imagine that is a product recommended by Engadget.
Blu-Ray compliant and fast
The LG HR400 is primarily a Blu-Ray. As such there is no paste to put. Moreover, the analysis goes well favored to pick up the gauntlet that many users are eager for all this equipment: speed of operation.
Those with a Blu-Ray desperate to know what is its implementation. LG has worked hard on that and the LG HR400 would not be less. On average they are about ten seconds the time it takes the player into being with the film and ready to start enjoying high definition.
Like all current Blu-Ray, BD-Live profile does not fail and the Ethernet connection is vital for us to enjoy the profile and content streaming. From Youtube clear.
Open and multidisciplinary
The best thing is that HR400 LG is much more than just a player. It’s like one of those famous sweet hiding something more than the actual egg. In addition to Blu-Ray, the HR400 is a DTT tuner, multimedia player, a receiver YouTube videos and hard disk recorder.
And in all these areas more than met. Start with your hard disk function. The available space is 160 GB and have different recording modes, all of them in MPEG2. The Freeview tuner is the perfect complement, but also TimeShift and EPG function, we miss than high definition. It would have been a note added that he had given to the player registration.
Finally, in the way media player, the LG HR400 interface looks interesting and the results are very good, with support for the latest formats, including high definition as the MKV container with support for 1080p video and subtitles without problems.
Youtube, omnipresent
The manufacturers seem to have understood perfectly that streaming content from the Internet is vital for their teams. In Spain, the absence of advanced systems and high definition as they have in the U.S., we must conform with Youtube.
The performance of streaming from the Google site on the LG HR400 is perfect, as already seen with the lower model, the LG BD370: Good interface and operation more than correct.
* Interface as a hard drive, a long distance from the magnificent disk mode interface.
* The Freeview tuner is not true for high definition and pay for DTT.
* WiFi connectivity.
* Reading NTFS partition from an external hard drive.
The opinion of Gizmodo
If you buy a Blu-Ray pulled us back by the price tag and can not get the benefits that such investment is deserved, this LG HR400 is removed from among all those prejudices.
Priced at 350 euros, do not get along with each one a Blu-Ray to last, but we are worth as Freeview tuner and hard disk recording capabilities. Worse, clear positive, it acts as a great media player and can get the videos directly from Youtube. Pity not dare insist that moment with a Freeview tuner.
